Tanzanite is a blue and violet variety of the mineral zoisite, caused by small amounts of vanadium. It is a trade name first used by Tiffany and Company for gem-quality specimens of zoisite, chosen for its marketability. This gemstone is renowned for its intense blue-violet hue and is considered one of the most captivating gemstones in the world due to its unique color and rarity. Tanzanite is only found in Simanjiro District of Manyara Region in Tanzania, in a very small mining area (approximately 7 km) near the Mererani Hills.
